Hi, I’m Annie, the person behind Your Local Handy Woman.

For over 15 years I worked as a mechanic, where I learned how to take things apart, understand how they work, and put them back together properly. That experience taught me the value of doing a job carefully, safely, and to a high standard. I’m also high-voltage certified, so working with technical systems and problem-solving is second nature to me.

Over the last couple of years I’ve taken those skills into my own home renovation project. I completely gutted and rebuilt my house myself removing walls, plastering, taking out an old fireplace and chimney, installing a brand new kitchen and bathroom (including the electrics), and tackling all the decorating and finishing work along the way. When you do that level of work yourself, you learn quickly how to handle just about any problem a home can throw at you.

That’s what inspired me to start helping people around Gloucestershire with the jobs that need doing but often get put off, the things that pile up over time or feel too small to call in a big contractor.

I’m happy to help with things like:

  • Painting and decorating
  • Tiling
  • Furniture building and assembly
  • Gardening and outdoor tidy-ups
  • Patio and driveway cleaning
  • Window and gutter cleaning
  • Carpet cleaning
  • General home repairs and odd jobs

If something in your home needs fixing, refreshing, or finishing, chances are I can help.

I’m also a proud single mum to my brilliant 7-year-old, and when I’m not working you’ll probably find me playing football or getting stuck into another project.

If you’ve got a job that needs doing, feel free to get in touch, I’d love to help.
